Breathtaking aerial photos from the US Department of Agriculture
Yes, we realize that the terms "breathtaking" and "Department of Agriculture" don't normally occur in the same sentence, but check out the amazing photographs recently acquired by the University Libraries' Nevada Digital Initiatives office. These are fully georeferenced color aerial photos that were taken as part of the National Agriculture Imagery Program. For a list of available images go to http://keck.library.unr.edu/data/naips/naips_search.asp; for best results, right-click and save each image to your computer before opening, and be prepared to wait for a few seconds -- these are big, dense, and colorful images (except for the ones of Nevada, which are mostly just big and dense).
Thanks to the US Geological Survey, whose $12,000 grant made this collection possible! For more information, contact Duncan Aldrich NDI Administrator, at duncan@unr.edu.
