Scirus -- It's Like Google for Scientists
Elsevier, a major publisher of science journals, has recently unveiled a new Web search engine geared specifically to scientists. In addition to searching the open Web for science-related sites, Scirus also indexes over 14 million MEDLINE citations, the full content of Elsevier's Science Direct ejournal database (5.5. million articles), more than 1 million patents registered with the USPTO, ArXiv preprints, BioMed Central articles, NASA technical reports and more. An Advanced Search function allows you to search by author affiliation, content source, and subject areas.
To access Scirus from an off-campus computer, use this URL:
0-www.scirus.com.innopac.library.unr.edu/srsapp (and remember that you can use all of the University Libraries' licensed ejournals and databases from off campus by using the links provided on the Libraries' web pages.
