Today's Wall Street Journal -- online!
There are those who feel that it's important to maintain a certain image, and that one way to do so is to walk around in the morning with a clear-eyed, purposeful gaze, a steaming cup of coffee in one hand, a briefcase in the other, and the new issue of the Wall Street Journal folded neatly under one arm.
But for those who care more about actually reading it than about being seen to read it, the University Libraries now offer access to the Wall Street Journal in an online archive that begins with today's issue and extends back to 1984. You'll find a link to the Journal here, or you can bookmark this page: http://tinyurl.com/65nvj.

ARTstor -- A New Database of Art Images for UNR Faculty & Students
The University Libraries are excited to announce that we now have access to the new ARTstor database of art images. The ARTstor project was founded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation as a means to "enhance scholarship, teaching and learning in the arts and associated fields." The Charter Collection contains 300,000 images covering a broad range of world cultures in many mediums including painting, architecture, sculpture, photography, decorative arts, and design. It is projected that by 2006 the database will contain 500,000 images. ARTstor has several distinct collections such as the Art History Survey Collection, the Carnegie Arts of the United States Collection, and The Huntington Archive of Asian Art.
Users register for a free logon and password, which makes it possible to save images online, create groups of images, download images, and download an offline viewer that can be used to present slide shows of the images. ARTstor also offers enhanced features for instructors. One such utility allows instructors to create folders and image groups to share with students.
All are invited to see a presentation of ARTstor and view some of its features on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at 2:00pm in the Libraries' Projection Room. If that time is not convenient, please contact Millie Syring (mlsyring@unr.edu), who will be happy to meet with you at your office. She can also answer any questions you may have about the ARTstor product.
