UNR Library collection suddenly quintuples in size; experts amazed...

In addition to the rich collection of books available in the University
of Nevada Libraries, students and faculty now have access to books from
over 30 public and academic libraries in California. Our campus is
participating in LINK+, a shared library catalog that includes over 5
million books housed at such institutions as Sonoma State University,
Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo and the Alameda County Public Libraries.

The LINK+ system uses a dedicated courier service to deliver requested
books between the participating institutions; requests are usually
delivered within 4 days and the books may be kept for 21 days. Best of
all, the Link+ service costs you nothing, and submitting requests is
easy. Just keep an eye out for the Link+ button as you search the
library catalog - if you don't find what you want in our catalog, just
click on the Link+ button and follow the instructions. You will be
notified when the book arrives, and you can pick it up at the
Circulation Desk on the main floor of Getchell Library.

For additional information and a list of participating libraries, see
http://www.library.unr.edu/services/linkplusfaq.html. If you have
questions about Link+, call or email Maggie Ressel (ressel@unr.edu;
784-6500 ext. 291).

Web Searching for the Right-Brained

When you're searching the Web, do the pages and pages of text results start giving you a headache after a while? Do you wish that your results could be broken down into a set of logical categories and presented to you in a more visual, spatial, intuitive way?

Then try Kartoo, a new search engine for the visually-oriented. Search results are organized into a map-like visual space in the center of the screen, with subcategories listed in folders in a frame along one side and relevant links along the other. And the soothing blue color scheme will help ease your aching head when you're all Googled out.
