Is it data-crunching time? Let the DataWorks Lab help you.
The DataWorks Statistical Analysis and Visualization Lab -- located in Getchell Library, Room 1A -- supports eight powerful Dell PCs loaded with an array of sophisticated software products. For social science statistical analysis, the software array includes PC SPSS and PC SAS. Matlab, Maple, and Mathematica are available for developing and testing mathematical equations. Chemistry is supported by the ChemDraw and Chem3D software packages, while IDL and ENVI provide sophisticated visualization capabilities, allowing for the development of animated and multidimensional models of virtually anything. ArcInfo, ArcMap and ArcView underpin the Lab's strong collection of geographic information software. NUD*IST N6 is available for qualitative data analysis.
Complementing the software array if a huge digital data storage capacity (approaching eight terabytes), a gigabyte "pipe" to the campus network, and a forty-two inch HP DesignJet 500ps printer. All workstations are connected to the network, allowing researchers to work in the lab with data stored elsewhere or use remote computers to access data stored at DataWorks.
The Lab is available to UNR researchers -- faculty and students -- during all hours tha the Getchell Library is open. The Lab may also be booked for training sessions. Recommendations for deploying additional software are welcome.
